As a result of the Minnesota Session Laws of 2009, the MPCA was required to incorporate requirements for inventorying ponds, wetlands, and lakes into the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) general permit reissued in 2013. The intent behind the session law was to quantify the waterbodies within each regulated MS4 that have the potential to be contaminated with Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) from the use of coal tar sealants. | As a result of the Minnesota Session Laws of 2009, the MPCA was required to incorporate requirements for inventorying ponds, wetlands, and lakes into the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) general permit reissued in 2013. Each MS4 permittee was required to submit a form consisting of all ponds, wetlands, and lakes (public and private) that collect stormwater within their jurisdiction. Each feature inventoried also includes the following information:
• A unique identification number that has been assigned by the permittee;
• The type of feature inventoried (pond, wetland, or lake); and
• Each feature’s geographic coordinates in decimal degrees.
Now that the 232 regulated MS4s subject to this requirement have completed their inventories, the contents of each inventory have been combined into one spreadsheet and can be viewed by downloading the following file: File:Pond Inventory for Stormwater Manual.xlsx.
